Gavin and I both had teeth issues lately. I lost some and he gained some. I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled last Monday morning and it really wore me out. I slept for days! Gavin had two teeth cut through, another in the front and it looks like he is getting a molar. I didn't know babies got them so young. It made him a little cranky for a couple of days but I understood tooth pain :).

Gavin has lately begun singing a lot and he has even started singing into a 'microphone'. The first time I saw him do it I couldn't believe it, where had he even seen someone using a microphone? At first, I just figured it was coincidence. But I have seen him do it other times and when I went to Ellie about it she had already seen him do it also. He uses the plug of an old N64 controller and puts it right up to his mouth and sings. He is so cute!

We head for a trip to Ill. this Friday morning. Unfortunately Jacob can't go so it's just Ellie, Gavin and I. I am looking forward to it but as always I worry that Gavin will not sleep well (and then I won't either) and we are trying a new sleeping bed with Gavin. It will be fun either way but it is always better with sleep!

Zoo pt.2

We went to the zoo again yesterday and it was the perfect day for it. Sunny and 70, a beautiful fall day. The only problem was that half of Nashville thought the same thing, it was packed. We had a nice time though in spite of the crowds. Gavin was so excited he kept doing his happy dance. He seemed to be interested in the animals and pointed a lot at them. Of course he always stopped pointing when I took the picture. The night before he fell into a table in his room and got a nice bruise on his cheek, just in time for the zoo pictures :). Of course his hat didn't match his shirt either but he's one so he didn't care.

We watched a bird show (more on that further down) and right after the owl incident a woman with two little girls pulled up beside us -we were standing in the back. Gavin immediately was interested in them and the lady kept talking to him. She turned to me and said what a flirt he was (I totally agree) and then she said she didn't know if he was flirting with her or her daughter who was Gavin's age. I told her it was probably her - he likes older woman like his daddy. I just thought it was funny because that is always how I describe him, a flirt, and she is the first one (stranger) that said that was what he was doing.

The funniest thing happened with this owl. We were watching a bird show and the trainer was going to demonstrate how quiet it is when it flies, even though it is so large (It's giant). She had another trainer put a piece of meat on a bar at the end of the room and let it fly toward it. The problem was that it was still in training so it had a rope attached to it in case it decided to fly off and when it was doing exactly what it was supposed to, the rope got stuck! There was this large bird flying upward and all of the sudden it got pulled backward and it flipped around. It was a crazy sight because with it's wings out it is just humongous. It fell into the crowd freaking out and flapping all around and it was still stuck by the rope. Some guy in the audience was quick thinking enough to jump up and untangle the rope and it made out with no injuries. There was a family with a small boy and girl who were basically right in the thick of it and the little boy was very frightened. His mother had to take him away and he will probably be afraid of owls for the rest of his life. After that the owl refused to do any more tricks and who can blame him?
These two were taken when we were done looking at the animals and were just sitting relaxing. Gavin was in a very silly mood and laughing at nothing.

September!

What a difference a month makes (Sept.)!! Today it was only a high in the mid 70's and it felt so nice!! That wasn't even a low in July and August. It also has rained quite a bit in the last two days which is very needed. The grass is so dead it crunches when you walk on it. Fall is my favorite season and it feels like it has arrived. Of course half of the leaves have already fallen because of the drought but I'm sure the rest will turn pretty colors. The only thing that is a problem with the cooler weather is Gavin needs a cool weather wardrobe. It's not like I can get out last winters clothes, that would be hilarious. We are heading to Illinois at the end of the month and he will definitely need new clothes by then.

Today is Jacob's graduation and his parents sent him a large balloon arrangement. Gavin loves it. He had the biggest grin on his face and just attacked them! I tried to get a picture of his face but all the balloons just kept getting in the way. Also he'd get all tangled up in them and just run around the house like that, it was pretty funny.

Salutatorian

Jacob is the Salutatorian of his graduating class!!! Isn't that exciting? We are all very proud of him. They wanted him to speak at the graduation but he declined. He isn't even planning on going, no family could come, so he didn't see the point. But it is still a good thing and as Ellie and my mom both pointed out, it will look good on his resume!

We had a good holiday weekend here at our house. Jacob had most of the weekend off, that was nice. Even nicer, my Aunt Judy came today and watched Gavin so Jacob and I could get out alone for awhile.
Poor Gavin has his second cold and that is a bit of a problem for him, he is not used to anything slowing him down. We have some really gross sneeze pictures but luckily for you all, they are only on our phones :).

Here's a quick story.. Most of you who know me, know that I am a bit of a klutz but I out did myself this last Sat. night. We were putting Gavin to bed and Jacob set him down in his room -over the gate in the doorway- and I was behind him with my arms full of Gavin's laundry. I went to step over the gate and something went wrong. Exactly what I'm not sure but I think my shoe got caught on the gate because I went DOWN! I fell hard onto my left side but luckily Gavin had moved into the room and wasn't anywhere in the drop zone. After a few moments lying there I was able to get up (I had to comfort a freaked out Gavin) without too much pain but later in the night I began to get pretty stiff and sore. I could barely sleep that night because I hurt so bad and I definitely could not put any weight on my left side. By today it is a lot better and my back and shoulder only ache a little but I have extremely large bruises on my legs. One takes up my left hip and the other -the part that hit the gate as I fell- has a bruise that goes half way around my thigh. In normal times I bruise like a peach (thanks mom!) but this is impressive even for me.
If anyone ever needs a laugh, I'm sure Jacob will be happy to re-enact it for you .
