Last post

It's not really a secret that Jacob and I are separating but I'll say it anyway. I feel weird mentioning it but ignoring such a huge thing going on in our lives would be silly.
The boys and I have moved in with my parents, back in Illinois. Things aren't easy right now but my family has been awesome and very supportive. So this is the last post on this blog. I've started a new one that will probably not be up until January. Starting the new year out fresh.

Liam is finally standing on his own legs (not this picture is the best representation of that) I wasn't overly worried but he is months behind Gavin

Gavin's first time in snow. He loves it!

We had a good time with Missy and Cameron last week. Gavin loves playing with other kids

Liam LOVES his feet and finally got a foot into his mouth the other day, he was so proud

he looks SO adorable in this outfit. I need a better picture of it though

Gavin and I helped Grandma make Christmas cookies and Gavin got to lick the icing off. He enjoyed that :)

This picture is too blury to tell but Gavin's face was a colorful mess! He got into the sprinkles and enjoyed those too

Pictures

I put a blanket over his face (in a tickley manner, not a smothery manner) and he thought that was the funniest thing ever!

Look at those chubby hands!

they look like they are deep in conversation

6 months

Liam is 6 months old today! Coincidentally it was exactly a year ago that I heard his heart beat for the very first time. It's easy to remember because the night before my Aunt had lost her battle with cancer. It was the most bittersweet moment because my Aunt had just died but there I was listening to this new tiny heart beat.

I still can't get over how much smaller he is than Gavin was at this age. He weighs 16lbs and 10oz and Gavin was 5lbs heavier! That's a big difference. The Dr. said that he should have teeth cutting through pretty soon and I think it's about time. It seems like he has been teething forever!!

Sitting and Smiling

Aunt Ellie bought a few Christmas jammies for the boys. Doesn't he look so adorable?

Liam is doing very good on his sitting up. Here he is holding my finger but he is fully supporting himself, he just needs the reassurance that I'm there

This picture is blurry and off center but I was sitting next to Gavin and put the camera in front of them and took it blind. I wish it was clearer though because they look so cute

I didn't realize he had carrots in his nose until I saw these pictures! (he had just eaten)

Sitting up on his own! I don't know what is up with his hair (or lack thereof) when Gavin was this age I had already cut his 3 times. It's probably a good thing though because I'm not that good at it.

another blurry picture but he is actually smiling so I take what I get

Santa hat from Ellie (I'm not sure why he is making that face)

Gavin has to wear the hat if Liam does (he's been walking around a lot lately with a tiny hat on his head.... what a kook!)

Time Change

I know that whenever there is a time change I complain (since I had kids) but I STILL hate it. This time with Liam has been my worst experience so far. He used to go to bed at 6:30 so for the first few days he would start screaming at 5 (sometimes earlier) until he went to bed , which he now goes at 6 because that is the latest I can keep him up. Gavin didn't mind staying up because to him, he is getting away with something. Liam now wakes up at 5 in the morning and Gavin at 6 and I don't care if it is technically the same time I was used to getting up- if the clock says 5 I don't like it!

The only picture Gavin has allowed me to take of him this week

Who's cuter than Liam (besides Gavin of course)

Last weekend Liam sat up all on his own for the first time!!

Last Sunday was my Grandma's 81st birthday!!!!

Gavin fell asleep rocking his "baby"

Things

Things here are finally getting better. These past couple of weeks have been especially hard. Liam is still not sleeping well and Gavin has returned to the "terrible" two's with a vengeance. The past few days have been more normal though, which I am grateful for. Potty training with Gavin is going awesome in the pee area, poop.... not so much. In fact in the four weeks of potty training we have not had one successful number two. It's going to be difficult because Gavin is a private pooper (I write about the coolest stuff!!) he will only go when he is alone. He also seems a little frightened of poo in the potty so that's a problem. I can't seem to figure out how to get the breakthrough and it is driving me CRAZY!

Gavin is also growing fast as usual both physically and mentally. His feet have grown again and now he can't even fit into the size 9 shoes he just got a couple of months ago. He can't even wear toddler socks, he has to get them in the "big" boy section. He has giant feet! He is constantly surprising me at how smart he is. A couple of weeks ago he came over to me when I was reading a book and spelled out all of the letters on the cover. I couldn't believe how well he did. He now knows all his letters (mostly capital, lower case letters are still a little confusing to him) and numbers -today he counted to 13!-though one minute he will say them all right and then the next he will mix the order around. I guess I am so proud of him because I am not the type to sit him down and try to teach him these things, though if he shows interest and wants me to help I gladly will. So when he knows all these things at just 2 1/2 it is because he wants to, not because I make him (if that makes sense).

Then there is Liam.. he would be my perfect baby if he would just go back to sleeping through the night. He is a horrible napper, that hasn't changed, but how to get him to make the break through so that area is going to take awhile. He used to be a good night time sleeper so it was o.k. Now he isn't sleeping either time and when he gets too tired he screams and who wants that? I know eventually he will sleep better but I need my sleep also and while I don't scream when I'm tired I'm not that great either. Although, when he has had sleep he is the cutest thing you will ever see. All smiles and laughs and I want him to be like that more. Like I said in the beginning, the last couple of days have been better and there's been more laughing than screaming, I'm really hoping it stays that way.

Physically Liam is just the tiniest thing. Compared to other babies his age he is probably normal but compared to his older brother he is a shrimp. At this age (5 months) Gavin was so big that he had already grown out of his baby car seat because he weighed so much and he was wearing 9 month clothes and it wasn't long before he was in 12. Little Liam is moving into 9 month but they are still quite big on him. Like I have mentioned before he is also WAY less active than Gavin was. By this time Gavin had already mastered sitting up on his own (although Liam is close) and by 6 months he was crawling and standing. I am positive that Liam will not crawl that fast, if he ever crawls, he shows no interest right now. The good thing is that Liam is exactly what I wanted for my second child when I was watching Gavin do all those things. Gavin grew so quickly that I barely got a chance to enjoy him at one stage when he was on to the next. Since he was so active he started getting into things pretty early and always kept me on my toes. Liam being more laid back is a blessing! He is also the perfect size, Gavin was WAY to huge. Chubby babies are cute but there is still such a thing as too fat and Gavin definitely reached that at one point.

He can sit up on his own if he has some sort of support- like the couch

Isn't this bib cute? It's from his Abels' grandparents
